Public Doctoral Defense -- Biomedical Semantics
Join me on Thursday 30th May 2024 at 2 PM for the public defense of my doctoral thesis, on which I worked during the last five years and is titled…
Deciphering the semantics of biomedical texts
I'll be presenting my work over the natural language understanding of clinical texts via deep learning models:
How can computers help us be better doctors? In his research, François Remy explores how artificial intelligence can transform healthcare thanks to a better understanding what doctors and patients are saying.
By developing advanced methods for natural language understanding in the biomedical domain, François helped computers process medical information more efficiently. His work enables computers to better understand diseases and treatments from scientific publications, patient records, and even discussions on social media.
This can lead to faster discoveries of drug side effects and improved personalized healthcare. François' work takes into account the multilingualism of our country and aims to understand all languages. By building BioLORD-2023, a model that can handle 50 different languages, François not only sheds light on the power of language models in the biomedical sector but also enhances the potential for global medical communication and access to information.
Thus, his research contributes to ongoing efforts to harness the power of AI for better human health and well-being. François' work promises a future where no question remains unanswered for doctors and patients, regardless of the language they speak.
The defense will take place in Auditorium 1 of the iGent Tower in Technologiepark Zwijnaarde
