After graduating from my Doctoral degree at UGent, I had the immense privilege of  being accepted in an NVIDIA internship program in collaboration with ORSI, the leading academy of Robotics-Assisted Surgery in Europe.

This six-month internship culminated in the public demonstration of a Vision-and-Language model commenting an ongoing surgery live during the Surgical AI days, a world-first!

Hundreds of surgeons and AI specialists, had the opportunity of asking questions in real time to the vision-and-language model developed during my internship in Pieter De Backer's team, in collaboration with NVIDIA AI, which was receiving in real time the video stream of an ongoing surgery.

This unique model was specially made for serving as a teaching assistant for the future Robot-Assisted Surgeons, providing tips and useful information on an ongoing case in real time.

The future of healthcare is fantastic, and I'm so happy to be a small part of this. Congratulations to the entire team for making this all work out, it was wonderful to witness
